Brief: A self-directed project to produce an animation to J. S. Bach’s Air on the G String.

The animation evolved from a comic strip I used to draw about a crass character named ‘Brian Blessed’. With his rotund frame he symbolised the idea of heaviness and brute force. Whilst listening to Bach I came up with the idea of the music inexplicably causing Brian to float like air, juxtaposing the two ideas in a surreal and hopefully entertaining way.

This was an exercise in trying to make my Flash animations appear less Flash-like, with organic textures and more natural movements. I also experimented with foreground mattes to blend live action and animation together.
