Brief: tell a story in a storyboard format (group project).

This project took place in Venice and follows the theme of past/present. We told the story of the tension that exists between the past and the present in Venice. For a city that depends on its heritage to attract tourists, the sight of the scaffolding and the cranes jars with the Renaissance architecture. However they are needed to preserve Venice in its current state.

Instead of producing a conventional storyboard we decided to stack the frames vertically from bottom to top to produce a composite building from the waterline to the skyline. The amount of modern elements: scaffolding, cables, advertising etc. increases higher up the building. In this way the past and the present are shown to exist side by side, contradicting the tourist image of a timeless, Turner-esque Venice.
